Comic Fiesta 2009 Day 2

I've always been hoping to go and see this event since previous years and this year I got lucky. Comic Fiesta is the largest anime, manga, and game event in Malaysia so I couldn't possibly miss it this time haha. I only went on the second day of the event but it was awesome! :-P

This year, it's held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, which is a convenient one bus ride from my place. I wanted to drive but my mom would never let me huhu. 私は十九歳だお母さん～　

My brother and I arrived at around 11.50ish a.m. The cosplay will start at 1.00p.m. and so we lingered around the mall before heading towards the hall. There's a campaign going on promoting the use of non-plastic shopping bag and bringing your own when shopping. It had a catchy title: 'Fantastik Bukan Plastik' which translates to 'Fantastic not Plastic' =P

It was nearing Christmas and there's a special ice skating performance by Sunways's ice skating school or something

Let the pictures do most of the talking or describing this time around lol. I'm feeling lazy =P





























































The cosplayers, the hosts, and the crowd were amazing. Not to forget the crews and volunteers who've worked hard for that day. Everyone made the event alive and cool. I'm so attending next year XD

New Blogger Hacks and Widgets

After browsing through the web for great widgets and hacks for my blogger blog, I stumbled upon these sites. They provide the coolest tips to add things like a tag cloud on Blogger, and most importantly, they all work! I've tested and use them on my Blogger blog, so you don't have to look elsewhere, unless you don't use Blogger :-P

Before that, please bear in mind that all these hacks and widgets are catered for new Blogger template. So, classic users, it's time for an upgrade!

Tag Cloud / Label Cloud
phydeaux3- this is the nicest tag cloud I've came across so far. It's so easy to customize and it works flawlessly. Take a look at a working example on my left sidebar

Selective Expandable Post Summary
Chezannies- There's a part 1 and part 2 to this awesome tutorial. If you don't know what expandable post summary means, this tutorial basically teaches on how to add the 'read more' link at the end of some posts. In contrast with some other tutorials that add a 'read more' link to each and every posts you have, this one teaches you on how to add the link on some particular posts depending on your choice. It requires careful implementation or else it could go wrong. But, the result is amazing, especially if you have a long post that you only want the summary of it to show up on the main page.

Random Posts List
iBloggerZ- Unlike some other widgets, this one is unique since it does not display a link to a random post, instead displays a list of random posts on your blog. Pretty simple and works just the way it should.

Daicon 09

This was quiet a while back, but I decided to make a post about it anyway. The folowing is quoted from the official website:

"DaiCon is an expo, being organized on a scale rarely seen in Malaysia. It is an expo that has been created for the sole purpose of showcasing the latest and most innovative in the world of modern Japanese visual culture, from audio to video, print as well as interactive media"

So yeah, basically, it's an ACG event lol. ACG stands for anime, comic, and games which of course includes cosplays, doujin booth, etc. haha ;P

I went there with a friend by bus. It was a pretty long ride since we departed from Shah Alam. Cyberjaya was apparently quiet, no hustle or bustle like I'm used to, and blazing hot. Imagine we had to walk a long way from the main entrance of the campus towards the venue despite the scorching glare from the afternoon sun. We were so glad when we finally saw the building where the hall was haha


























































It was a fun experience. It was the first time I went to an actual cosplay event, with a real competition going on haha. It wasn't as big or lively as Comic Fiesta 09 which was held later that year, but it was pretty cool. I think the venue could have been better with bigger space and friendly design but overall, I might be looking forward to coming next time ^_^
